Jørgen Christian Wind Nielsen

Education:

Master's degree in Spanish business language (Cand. interpret.) from the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) in 1982. State Authorized translator & interpreter in Spanish.

Since 1983 employment with Erhvervssprogligt Forbund (The Danish Association of Business Language Graduates), fields of activity including education politics, training programmes, general information and public relations. Editor of the magazine "Sprog & Erhverv" (Language & Business).

Later on language policies & language strategies in companies, language technology and editor of the publication "Sprogstrategi & Sprogpolitik" - Language Strategies & Language politics, ISBN: 87-986915-0-3, and the publication "Sprogstrategi som en del af en organisationskultur" - A Language Strategy as part of an organization culture, ISBN: 87-986915-1-1.

In 1993 renewal of the membership of Translatørforeningen (The Association of Danish Authorized Translators) to FIT, the International Federation of Translators, as delegate to the FIT World Congress in Brighton, England.

In 1994, secretary of the Association of Danish Authorized Translators - Translatørforeningen.

In 1995, first Chairperson of the Regional Centre Europe of FIT. Delegate to the first Constitutional Conference of the ELC, The European Language Council, and participation in a EU-seminar on language policies in companies. Until 2002 secretary of the Regional Centre Europe of FIT, Webmaster of the FIT Education & Training Committee, and member of the FIT Committee on copyright.

1998, 27-28^th November: European Commission seminar: Language/Communications Skills and Competitiveness, Brussels.

2001: Chair person Amnesty International local committee in Gentofte.

Since 2001, consultant to the independent Association of Danish Authorized Translators (Translatørforeningen).

Project coordinator on the EU financially supported European Year of Languages project "Europe - the work place of languages", which took place on the 26^th of September 2001 in Copenhagen - the European Day of Languages.

2001, 15-18th November: Participation in the European Commission/Council of Europe Conference: Languages: Promoting Good Practice, Rotterdam.

2001, August: Member of the User-group as the representative of The Association of Danish Authorized Translators (Translatørforeningen) in the project of the Danish Ministry of Education Project Future of the Subject: Danish. 2002: Board Member, Adult Upper Secondary Level Course, Municipality of Gentofte (Gentofte Studenterkursus).

2002: Board Member, The Danish Terminology User Group (DANTERM brugergruppen).

2002.03.02: Presentation on Language Policy at the annual meeting of the Danish Language Council (Dansk Sprognævn).

2002: Participation in working group under the Danish Administration of Justice (Domstolsstyrelsen) concerning court interpreting.

2002: FIT (International Federation of Translators) Training Committee webmaster.

2000-2002: EAFT (European Association of Terminology) supplementary board member.

August 2002: Delegate of the Association of Danish Authorized Translators (Translatørforeningen) to the FIT World Congress in Vancouver, Canada.

Start August 2002: Master Degree studies in computermediated communication at Roskilde University.

October 2002: Organization Committee for the Conference: Erhvervsliv, Sprogpolitik og Konkurrenceevne, arrangeret af Dansk Selskab for Fagsprog og Fagkommunikation (Business life, Language strategies and Comtetition, organized by the Danish Society for Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP) and Business Communication).

December 2002: Publicly appointed external examiner at the Danish Business Academies.
